Email Stuck in Outbox

This help guide assumes that you have configured your email client but are having issues sending email, or your email is stuck in our outbox. This guide also assumes that you are not getting authentication issues.

Your ISP (Company that handles your internet access) might be blocking port 25 and this might be the reason that your emails are stuck in your outbox. This can be the case even if sending was working recently as some ISP’s roll these changes through without warning.

Solution 1

In your email account settings, change the outgoing SMTP port from 25 to 587. If these ports do not work, try port 465. Dont forget to select SSL if you use port 465. No SSL should be selected when using ports 25 or 587.

Solution 2

If you are still unable to send mail, your ISP (Company that handles your internet access) might be blocking ports 25, 587 and 465. In this case, the preferred solution is to use the outgoing mail server provided by your ISP. As each Internet Service Provider has different settings, you will need to contact your ISP for the correct settings – We are unable to assist with this.
